Website Issues and Hints

  1. If you are using Internet Explorer version 8 and find that our lovely dynamic menus do not display correctly, navigate to Menu > Tools > Compatibilty Settings and tick "Display all Websites in Compatibility View"

  2. In Internet Explorer, you may have many menus at the top of the screen, press F11 on your keyboard to display full screen mode.  Press F11 again to toggle back again.

  3. If you are unable to open the Adobe PDF documents, you may have an old version of Adobe Reader.  Just click Adobe Reader to download the latest version, which is 9.2

  4. It may take a few seconds for our menus to load after the home page first opens.  Move the mouse carefully sideways to grab sub menus and click to open.

  5. For good hygiene on your PC:

    a)  Have already installed, and update regularly, antivirus software of your choice
    b)  Perform a system scan at least weekly using the anti virus software (this may take ages, so do it during a quiet period)
    c)  Run anti malware scans in addition to antivrus.  You may wish to look at Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool or similar.

  6. An occasional user may be using an old URL in a Favourites shortcut.  In this case, for Internet Explorer, go to Organise Favourites, delete the EEAOP reference.  Back at your home page, type the correct URL into the address bar as http://www.applesandorchards.org.uk/ and save to favourites.

  7. If you are experiencing redirections to other sites when trying to access EEAOP, it may be that a URL Redirector is running on the PC.   These are designed to pick up “404 Error Page” .  This page is meant to provide you with helpful related content, including web search results and paid advertisements, based on the meaning of the web address/keyword query that you typed.

This program can be uninstalled from the Control Panel "Add/Remove Programs" in Windows XP or "Control Panel > Program > Programs and Features" in Windows Vista. Look for the application named "Browser Address Error Redirector".   Older versions may be called "GoogleAFE" or "URL Assistant".
